The Role of ACOs in the New World of Federal and State Health Care Reform

This presentation addresses the role that ACOs may play under both federal and state health care reform. In addition to an overview of the key ACO provisions of the Federal Reform law, their genesis and implementation dates, this presentation will discuss how state payment reform efforts may accelerate or impede federal ACO developments. The current Massachusetts reform effort will serve as a case study for this question. Other topics include organizational models and practical considerations as to how to operationalize an ACO, as well as related legal issues.
