Intellectual property transactions partner Edward Kelly and intellectual property transactions counsel Regina Penti (both of Boston and London) spoke on “European Patent Practice Points for U.S. Attorneys: Lessons Learned from EPO Oppositions on Parallel Litigations” at the Boston Patent Law Association’s Technical Inventions in European Patent Law conference on June 7.
The session, which was attended by in-house counsel from technology and life sciences companies and included a separate presentation by European Patent Office officials, reviewed several key differences that American practitioners need to know between U.S. and European patent practice and drew on their perspectives as practitioners with substantial experience in Europe, including in opposition proceedings.
