Litigation & enforcement partner and anti-corruption/international risk practice co-chair Ryan Rohlfsen will speak on a complimentary virtual panel titled “Third Party Monitoring (Past, Present, and Future)” on December 1 at 1 pm EST.
The panel will address the third-party monitoring landscape and risks presented by the worldwide pandemic and stay-in-place orders. Key topics for discussion will include:
- Third-Party Monitoring Updates. The pandemic has caused significant disruption to the economy and the way we do business, which has had a downstream effect on compliance, legal and audit teams. As a result, companies have had to stay flexible and adapt to the demands of third-party due diligence, monitoring and audits. The panel will discuss the importance of third-party compliance, potential new risks and how companies are adapting to the shifting landscape.
- Remote Monitoring and Audits. Compliance, legal and audit teams are facing significant hurdles because of travel restrictions and stay-at-home orders, which has created new challenges when gathering data, conducting interviews and overseeing audits. The panel will discuss regulatory and shareholder expectations and alternate strategies required to augment existing third-party compliance procedures.
- Long-Term Impact. Will there be a permanent shift in how we monitor and audit third parties? The panel will discuss the potential lasting impact caused by current challenges and how companies plan to update their teams, leverage external experts and enhance their remote capabilities.
The panel will be moderated by Tricia Etzold (Partner and Investigations Leader, Resolution Economics) and include Ryan Rohlfsen, Tracy Linkins Price (Deputy Chief of the Division of Enforcement’s FCPA Unit, SEC), Denis Jacob (VP and Deputy Chief Compliance Officer, Orthofix), Jose Almonte (Assistant U.S. Attorney, Healthcare Fraud Unit) and Mara Senn (Director and Senior Counsel for Global Compliance Investigations, Zimmer Biomet).
