Ropes & Gray is representing NSTAR, which announced on October 18 that it has reached a definitive merger agreement with Northeast Utilities, creating one of the nation's largest utilities, with a total enterprise value of $17.5 billion. The combined electric and gas utility, which will be called Northeast Utilities, will serve several million customers in the Northeast. Ropes & Gray has been representing NSTAR and its predecessor company, Boston Edison Company, for more than 20 years.
