Boston-based principal Harvey Cotton comments on the implications of the Obama’s administration decision to delay the employer mandate’s reporting requirement until 2015. “The shared responsibility provision is intended to discourage employers from just dropping coverage and sending everybody to an Exchange to get coverage,” said Mr. Cotton in the article entitled "Administration Delays PPACA's Employer Reporting, Waives Employer Mandate Until 2015." He continued, “This remains an important piece of the law and the announcement proposed no structural changes to its requirements. Only the implementation is being delayed.”
