Ropes & Gray hosted “Visions of Diversity,” an event exploring and celebrating diversity, on June 18 in the Boston office. The event showcased photojournalist Don West’s acclaimed “Portraits of Purpose” exhibition, a collection of life-sized portraits of local leaders and others who have helped advance diversity. The exhibition was followed by a panel discussion with Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick; José Massó, director of community relations for The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) and host/producer of “Con Salsa” on Boston radio station WBUR; and Beverly Morgan-Welch, executive director of the Museum of African American History. Labor & employment partner and diversity committee chair Diane Patrick spoke to kick off the event, which was followed by a lively discussion on the importance of diversity in the workplace. The panelists shared their past experiences and thoughts on the need to continue increasing diversity in business and educational institutions, and then fielded questions from the audience.
