Ropes & Gray represented the National Football League (NFL) in a series of transactions as part of a repositioning of NFL On Location (NFL OL), its premium events and hospitality business. The NFL is partnering with Bruin Sports Capital and RedBird Capital Partners, who will invest growth capital and assume operational control of the business.

Bruin Sports and RedBird formed a new entity to which the NFL has granted a long-term license to run NFL OL. In a separate transaction, 32 Equity, which oversees the NFL’s private equity efforts, also invested in the new entity. NFL OL is the official event and hospitality business of the NFL, providing access to marquee NFL events, including the Super Bowl, Pro Bowl, NFL Draft, and International Series Games in London.

The Ropes & Gray team included sports law partner Dennis Coleman (Boston); intellectual property transactions partner Edward Black (Boston); and intellectual property transactions associate Hannah Freeman (Boston).
