Securities & public companies partner Michael Littenberg, litigation & enforcement partners Nicholas Berg and Andrew Dale and hedge fund partner Isabel Dische co-authored an article title “Keys To Corporate Social Responsibility Compliance” published as a four-part series in Law360 (subscription required).
The first installment, published on Mar. 26, considers many of the recent and emerging developments and trends that should be on the radar of in-house counsel. It also provides suggestions for legal departments that are building out their CSR compliance function.
The second installment, published on Mar. 27, examines how investors are paying more attention to environmental, social and governance issues. The piece points out that asset owners are increasingly expecting the managers with whom they invest — across a large number of asset classes — to take ESG factors and risks into account.
The third installment of the series, published on Mar. 28, discusses how CSR disclosures are increasing, and starting to become more standardized. Many companies are enhancing their disclosures to boost or at least maintain brand equity, and to help them remain competitive in the labor market.
The fourth and final installment published on Mar. 29, explores the growth in CSR-focused litigation and investigations. The piece notes over the last few years, there has been a significant increase in CSR-related litigation and investigations. Activity has increased not only in the United States at the federal, state and local level, but also in several other countries.
Chair of the securities & governance practice Keith Higgins, litigation & enforcement partner Amanda Raad, hedge funds counsel Melissa Bender and litigation & enforcement associate Joanna Torode also contributed to this article.
