A June 22 Fund Directions article titled “Judging a service provider RFP” examines issues mutual fund boards should consider when launching an RFP for vendors and service providers. The piece includes insights from investment management partner Elizabeth Reza. “It usually takes a special situation to give rise to an RFP,” according to Ms. Reza. “[Management should] definitely make sure the board is part of the conversation both in deciding whether to launch an RFP, and also understanding how the board wants to be involved over the course of the process,” she states. “The genesis for a service provider review can come from either fund management or the board of directors, and there are reasons for each to take the lead under the right circumstances,” Ms. Reza added.
