- Audax Private Equity announced its investment in Astute, Inc., a provider of AI-driven customer engagement, digital self-service and first-party consumer data management software. Ropes & Gray advised Audax Private Equity in the partnership.
- Qorvo, Inc., a manufacturer and supplier of semiconductors, will acquire Dallas-based Active-Semi International, Inc., a firm operating in the multibillion-dollar power management and intelligent motor drive markets. Ropes & Gray is representing Qorvo, Inc. in the transaction.
- Wieland-Werke AG, a supplier of semifinished copper and copper alloy products, announced its definitive merger agreement with Global Brass and Copper Holdings Inc. Ropes & Gray represented Wieland-Werke AG in the agreement.
- The Carlyle Group will acquire a significant minority interest in privately owned oil and gas company Cepsa from Abu Dhabi-based Mubadala Investment Company. Ropes & Gray is advising Carlyle on the transaction.
- Baring Private Equity Asia will acquire a 30% stake in NIIT Technologies Limited, a global IT solutions organization, from NIIT Limited and other promoter entities. Ropes & Gray is representing Baring Private Equity Asia in the transaction.
- Our latest investment management update, which reports on legal developments affecting the mutual fund and investment management industries, examines a recent no-action letter from the SEC with respect to in-person board voting, a federal district court ruling in an excessive fee claim case, and other regulatory priorities.
- Asset management partner Melissa Bender was profiled in Law.com’s “How I Made Partner” series, which features partners at Am Law 200 firms with unique journeys to partnership. In the Q&A article, she shared her career path and her greatest professional influence, and offered career advice to associates.
- Private equity partner Minh-Chau Le has been named one of The Deal’s “Top 21 New M&A Law Partners,” an accolade that recognizes the most promising M&A rising stars of 2019. The profile, which highlights her work on deals such as the $18 billion buyout of Toshiba’s memory chip business by a Bain Capital-led consortium, appeared in the Q1 issue of The Dealmaker Quarterly.
