A snapshot of law firms' secondaries work in 2018 by volume, deal count, and strategy was recently revealed by Secondaries Investor in their annual law firm survey. The article highlights that of the respondents, Ropes & Gray leads by deal count having advised on 145 secondary transactions in 2018.
The piece included market insights from asset management partner Isabel Dische. While novel transaction structures and deal types were a key trend in law firms’ secondaries work last year, Ms. Dische highlights that the makeup of sellers utilizing the secondaries market in 2018 also evolved. “A growing number of corporates have been participating in secondaries transactions,” Ms. Dische said. On the buyside, many sovereign investors have built up dedicated secondaries teams and are buying directly as well as teaming up with traditional secondaries buyers, Ms. Dische added.
