A Risk Alert from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission details deficiencies found in recent examinations of private funds. Insights from asset management partner Jason Brown are included in a Wall Street Journal’s Pro Private Equity article titled “SEC Says Conflicts of Interest Abound in Private Equity,” published on June 24.
“It isn’t uncommon for the SEC to issue alerts like this one about what particular problems have been cropping up in examinations,” said Jason in the article. “In effect, the SEC is trying to signal to the investment-advisory industry the practices they’re seeing that they don’t like so advisers have an opportunity to fix them,” he said.
