Litigation & enforcement partner Rob Roberts was honored by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly in its 2021 “Excellence in the Law” contest. Rob was recognized in the pro bono category for his work supporting the Special Master to the Supreme Judicial Court in a case involving efforts to reduce the Massachusetts prison population and mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the commonwealth’s prisons and jails. “Being a part of the special master team has been eye opening as to the inner workings of the criminal justice system and the importance of the relationships among the various stakeholders,” he said. Rob was also a member of the team that represented the historic Charles Street African Methodist Episcopal Church in seeking Chapter 11 relief. Rob was lead trial counsel in the case, helping with the sale of several properties and overcoming numerous objections to close the case in July 2018 after more than a decade.
