The SEC adopted new regulations this week aimed at increasing transparency across the private fund industry. Asset management partner Joel Wattenbarger spoke with Bloomberg Law and The American Lawyer about the impact.
Joel told Bloomberg Law that “relative to the proposed rules from last February, these final rules—from the perspective of private fund managers—are a substantial improvement in several respects.”
“Stay tuned because today’s not the end of the story,” he said on Wednesday.
In The American Lawyer, Joel said the final rules will “impose substantial new compliance requirements (and associated costs) on private fund managers. However, on the whole, today’s rulemaking appears to be substantially less disruptive than we had feared, relative to the rules proposed in February 2022.”
