Exxon Mobil is suing two environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investor groups to prevent their proposal calling for emissions cuts at the oil giant from going to a vote of shareholders.
In an article for The New York Times Dealbook, litigation & enforcement partner Amy Roy said suing is “a very rare step” but added that other companies will be watching as Exxon Mobil issues its own shareholders in U.S. federal court over a proposal aimed at reducing emissions.
