Partners Daniel Forman and Rachel Phillips shared their thoughts on the state of the IPO market with Bloomberg Law and discussed the factors that would drive momentum and increase IPO activity.
Daniel noted that interest from cornerstone investors remains an important factor as companies consider their IPO plans. There were cornerstone investors in “just about every large IPO in 2023,” Daniel said.
Rachel spoke to the factors that would ultimately lead a company to make the decision to move forward with an IPO, despite sometimes challenging market conditions and potential disconnects between private and public market valuations. She commented, “The owner of the company is going to be the real deciding factor in whether the company goes out into a capital raising event or not.”
For companies evaluating an IPO opportunity in the next 12 - 24 months, it’s important to start preparations and engage advisors early in the process.
