The commercial real estate market continues to prepare for distress, and regulators are turning their attention to smaller banks, which hold an outsize portion of loans backed by commercial real estate.
Real estate partner Anthony Mongone told Law360 that, “the lack of further bank meltdowns has been a "pleasant surprise" for most, except those looking to make opportunistic buys as banks shed their problematic assets.”
“There is a lot of money on the sidelines just waiting,” he said.
