In an International Financing Review article, ERISA and benefits partner Joshua Lichtenstein discussed the U.S. Department of Labor plan to issue new rules on whether 401k retirement funds can consider environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors for ERISA plans when making investment decisions.
Joshua notes the new rules are expected to include stricter interpretations of pecuniary factors, restrictions on proxy voting practices and diversity, equity and inclusion policies.
