In a Reuters article examining how U.S. courts are adapting to AI and the call for uniform guidelines, Shannon Capone Kirk, Managing Principal and Global Head of Advanced E-Discovery and AI strategy, was featured for her insights on the evolving landscape of court directives governing AI use by lawyers and judges.
Drawing on Ropes & Gray’s tracker of AI-related standing orders, rules and decisions, Shannon noted the breadth and trajectory of court activity. “There have been ‘dozens and dozens’ of such standing orders since 2023,” she said. Shannon also noted that recently the pace of these orders has slowed because judges have increasingly been relying on longstanding rules to help reduce AI misuse, including the duty to verify the accuracy of filings.
