Asset management partner Steve Zaorski discussed the improving outlook for mid-market private equity fundraising in a recent article in PitchBook.
The article reports that U.S. private equity funds collected nearly $120 billion in the first four months of 2026, a 30% increase over the same period last year. with vehicles sized between $100 million and $5 billion capturing 65% of the total.
Steve noted that more managers are preparing to return to market after pulling off exits in recent quarters through M&A transactions and continuation funds, saying, “I'm cautiously optimistic that fundraising is going to rebound in the second half of the year and surprise people.”
