Ropes & Gray advised South Korea-based SK Biopharmaceuticals in a research and development collaboration with Insilico Medicine to discover AI-enabled drug candidates in neuroimmune disorders of the central nervous system in a deal worth up to $2.5 billion. The transaction was announced on June 22.
Insilico will leverage its Pharma.AI platform to discover, design and optimize novel drug candidates for neuroimmune indications. SK Biopharmaceuticals will lead late-stage development and commercialization of all resulting programs.
Under the agreement, Insilico will be eligible to receive up to $18 million in upfront and near-term milestone payments. The total potential deal value exceeds $2.5 billion including development, regulatory and commercial milestone payments, as well as royalties on net sales upon commercialization.
