In an American Banker article, financial services group chair Jarryd Anderson discussed the next phase of the administration's bank regulatory agenda.
The article looks at how closely the Federal Reserve, FDIC, and OCC have worked together on reforms. These include easing capital burdens, refocusing supervision on financial issues, reducing citations, and speeding up merger approvals. It also covers the next round of issues, which could include liquidity requirements, the indexing of regulatory thresholds, and structural changes related to stablecoins and other digital assets.
Jarryd noted banks should be wary of how quickly policy can swing from one administration to another. "The durability of some of these changes remains to be seen, but typically things can be undone just as quickly as they are done – if not faster," he said.
