Ropes & Gray advised Teva Pharmaceutical Industries in a global license, development and commercialization agreement with Samsung Bioepis Co. for up to six potential biosimilar candidates. The deal was announced on October 1 and financial terms were not disclosed.
Under the agreement, Samsung Bioepis will be responsible for development, regulatory registration and manufacturing of the biosimilars, while Teva will be responsible for commercialization in global markets including the US, Europe, and Canada. The companies have agreed to an option for expanding the partnership to other territories.
This agreement reinforces the long-standing partnership between Teva and Samsung Bioepis, which has already resulted in the successful commercialization of EPYSQLI, an FDA approved biosimilar for certain blood conditions.
The Ropes & Gray team included life sciences licensing partner Abby Gregor and associate Zach Kramer.
