For the second consecutive year Ropes & Gray was named to The American Lawyer’s annual “A-List” ranking of 20 leading law firms.

Widely considered one of the most significant rankings of elite law firms in the United States, it “was created in an effort to assess (and rank) the nation's largest and most prominent law firms in a holistic way,” according to the magazine’s editors. The “A-List” recognizes firms based on four measures which serve as proxies to quantify attorney diversity, pro bono work, associate satisfaction and firm financial performance.

Ropes & Gray posted the highest pro bono jump among this year’s “A-List” firms, with the firm’s average pro bono hours per lawyer rising 15 percent over the previous year. The firm was singled out for its work on “a host of pro bono efforts, including asylum cases, death penalty appeals, family law matters, and voting rights cases.”
