Ropes & Gray has been honored with two LMG Life Sciences Awards for 2015, winning “Patent Impact Case of the Year” for Antares Pharma v. Medac Pharma, and “M&A Impact Deal of the Year” for Endo International plc’s acquisition of Par Pharmaceutical Holdings, Inc. The awards ceremony was held on Sept. 16 in New York.
Ropes & Gray represented Medac Pharma as a defendant in Antares, a patent infringement case involving high concentration methotrexate and autoinjector technology for the treatment of inflammatory diseases.
Ropes & Gray advised Par on its acquisition by Endo in a transaction valued at $8.05 billion, including assumption of Par debt. Dublin, Ireland-based Endo, which makes branded and generic pharmaceutical products, acquired Par from private equity firm TPG.
The Ropes & Gray team representing Par in the deal included private equity partners William Shields and Michael Roh (both of Boston); securities & public companies partner Julie Jones (Boston); tax partner David Saltzman (Boston); antitrust partner Michael McFalls (Washington, D.C.); and finance group partners Jay Kim and Alexander Zeltser (both of New York).
In 2014, Ropes & Gray won LMG Life Sciences Awards for Government Investigations (International) Firm of the Year and U.S. Life Cycle Firm of the Year.
