On Sept. 18, the Boston Business Journal announced that Ropes & Gray will receive the publication’s “Corporate Impact Award” as part of its 2015 Leaders in Diversity award ceremony to be held on Oct. 20 in Boston. The Boston Business Journal’s Leaders in Diversity Awards is an annual event recognizing companies and individual business leaders for their success in promoting inclusiveness and economic opportunity through diversity-focused initiatives.

This award reflects the firm’s commitment to promoting diversity internally and in local communities through recruiting, retention and pro bono initiatives led by our Women’s Forum, LBGT Forum, the Ropes Multicultural Group, formerly the Attorneys of Color Group, and the Ropes & Gray Roscoe Trimmier Jr. Diversity Scholarship.

Ropes & Gray has consistently been recognized as being among the nation’s leading law firms in the area of diversity overall, as well as with respect to minorities, gays and lesbians, and women:

  • In the 2016 Vault survey, Ropes & Gray was ranked #3 for overall diversity, marking the seventh consecutive year that the firm has been ranked in the top five for overall diversity.
  • For the past seven years, the firm received a perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI), administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. CEI scores are based on nondiscrimination policies aimed at making the firm a welcoming workplace for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees.
  • The Minority Corporate Counsel Association honored the firm with the Thomas L. Sager for two consecutive years in 2012 and 2013. This award recognizes firms that have succeeded in introducing policies that promote diversity and inclusion through retention, client inclusion, pipeline, mentoring and LGBT initiatives.
