In the December 2015/January 2016 issue of India Business Law Journal Ropes & Gray is recognized for a “Deal of the Year” in 2015 for the firm’s work advising Blackstone in the acquisition of 247 Park, a large commercial property in the transit hub of Vikhroli, a suburb of Mumbai, from Hindustan Construction Company, Milestone Real Estate Fund, AIG, and Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services. The team advising Blackstone included associate Natalie Kim (Washington, D.C.).
The firm’s outstanding work in India has received increasing visibility of late, with the IBLJ highlighting the firm as a “significant player” in India in June 2015, and The Legal 500 India ranking Ropes & Gray in its 2016 edition for its capabilities relating to cross-border transactions, anti-corruption and government investigations. In March 2015, the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) Asia Awards recognized the firm for its representation of an ad hoc committee of bondholders for Indian wind turbine-maker Suzlon Energy, Ltd. in the restructuring of approximately $580 million in foreign currency convertible bonds, named “Restructuring Deal of the Year.” The IBLJ previously awarded the firm “Deal of the Year” in 2012 for Ropes & Gray’s representation of Bain Capital in its $1 billion stake in Indian outsourcing technology company Genpact Ltd.
