The American Lawyer Honors Firm’s Cross-Border M&A Work

Ropes & Gray was named a winner in The American Lawyer’s fourth annual Global Legal Awards, which honors law offices that played a substantial role in the most distinguished international work performed between Jan. 1, 2015 and April 15, 2016.

Ropes & Gray won the “Global M&A Deal of the Year: Korea” award for its representation of the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board in Tesco’s $6.4 billion acquisition of Homeplus, a deal that was regarded as one of the largest private equity transactions of 2015, and the largest buyout in South Korea. The firm also won “Global M&A Deal of the Year: U.S.” for its representation of Shire plc in the company’s $32 billion acquisition of Baxalta Inc., a transaction which created a leading global biotechnology company focused on serving patients with rare diseases and other highly specialized conditions.
