Law360 has named two Ropes & Gray attorneys to its 2018 “Rising Stars” list. Private equity transactions partner Garrett Charon was recognized as a Private Equity Rising Star and intellectual property transactions partner Megan Baca was recognized as a Technology Rising Star.
In the last two years, Garrett Charon has advised a number of leading private equity sponsors, including TPG Capital, Partners Group, CCMP Capital and New Mountain Capital, on high-profile deals. With a diverse corporate counseling and transactional practice, his work demonstrates his strategic approach to deal making as he guides them throughout the life cycle of their investments in portfolio companies, from initial investment through ultimate exit.
Megan Baca took a key role advising on the transactional and IP risks of Toshiba Corporation’s $18 billion sale of its memory chip business to a Bain Capital-led consortium—one of 2017 and 2018’s biggest technology transactions. Ms. Baca also navigated the complex spin-out of the once-independent cybersecurity firm McAfee, in which leading private equity firm TPG Capital partnered with Intel to spin-out McAfee, a transaction valued at $4.2 billion.
