On June 16, Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) announced that Ropes & Gray has been named to its 2020 Pro Bono Recognition Roster, which honors law firms and corporations for making significant contributions and providing legal services pro bono to individuals, families, and communities throughout the state of Illinois.
PILI revealed the 2020 Pro Bono Recognition Roster during day two of its weeklong virtual celebration. Featured speaker, Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Anne M. Burke, thanked the Illinois legal community for their hard work over the past year and more recently. She said, “I am heartened by the extraordinary pro bono work that is already taking place across our state in these last several months.” Adding, “On behalf of my colleagues and myself, I wish to express our gratitude to all of the law firms and corporations named to this year’s Pro Bono Recognition Roster and actually to all of the individual lawyers and legal professionals at these firms and corporations and other places who have worked so diligently to help those in need. Congratulations to you for this much deserved recognition.”
In 2019, Ropes & Gray attorneys, paralegals, summer associates and other professionals worldwide donated more than 170,000 hours of legal services. By providing direct representation and partnering with human rights, legal reform and other organizations, Ropes & Gray helps impoverished individuals, underserved communities, nonprofits and small businesses that might otherwise lack access to legal services.
