Ropes & Gray has been “highly commended” for its Asia pro bono program in the Chambers Asia-Pacific Awards 2021, for “taking on some challenging projects across Asia Pacific in 2020.”
Judges cited the firm’s work on The Remedy Project, as a standout part of the program. This was a draft research memorandum written by 30 lawyers aimed at policy makers and lawyers working on child exploitation cases and NGOs doing advocacy work.
Ropes & Gray also assisted the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai on a due diligence project relating to the procurement of personal protective equipment (such as face masks and N95 respirators) from Chinese suppliers – creating step-by-step guidelines covering the verification of PRC product standards of various types of face masks and respirators, PRC suppliers and distributors’ qualifications, export requirements and other relevant regulatory aspects.
The firm also teamed up with the DT Institute and Charles Sturt University to produce a report focused on a review of regional policies, operational plans, and capacity to respond effectively to Transnational Organized Crime against women and children in the Mekong region.
