Finance counsel Luwam Berhane Mezue has been named in Financial News’ Rising Stars of European Finance 2025 list, which recognises the most talented individuals under the age of 40 working across investment banking, asset management, law, consultancy, hedge funds, wealth management, crypto, fintech, trading and market infrastructure.
Luwam has spent seven years in the firm’s London office with a year on secondment to Goldman Sachs’ loan negotiation group, returning to Ropes & Gray in October 2023 and gaining promotion to counsel.
Milestone transactions for Luwam include structuring and executing the acquisition financing for the take-private of Sotheby’s. More recently, she has advised Goldman and other lenders on a $850m acquisition financing in connection with online advertising company Outbrain’s acquisition of Teads.
