Law360 named asset management partner Rachel O’Brien a “Rising Star” in the Fund Formation category, recognizing top lawyers under 40 across the industry whose legal accomplishments belie their age.
Rachel was recognized for several notable representations, including advising Hamilton Lane on its $5.6 billion Secondary Fund VI—its largest fundraise to date, and one of the largest standalone secondaries fundraises in the industry in 2024—and for helping The Vistria Group secure $3 billion for Vistria Fund V, its largest-ever private equity fund.
In her profile, Rachel emphasized the importance of building strong relationships with clients and team members, particularly as the private funds industry continues to evolve and diversify. As the industry explores new fund structures and expands into retail products, staying “nimble and creative” will be essential for attorneys to grow with their clients, she said. And though the emergence of new technologies, including artificial intelligence, may change the way lawyers work, “[h]aving trusted relationships and sound judgment, and being creative, are going to remain extremely important,” she said.
