Senators Ask HHS to Step Up Scrutiny of PODs Under Sunshine Act

On March 19, 2019, Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) of the Senate Finance Committee (“SFC”) wrote a letter (the “POD Letter”) to the HHS Office of Inspector General (“OIG”) and the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (“CMS”) calling for increased scrutiny of the compliance by physician-owned distributors of implantable medical devices (“PODs”) with the reporting requirements of the Physician Payments Sunshine Act ( “Sunshine Act”).
