Hedge Funds and ERISA–Hot Topics and Current Issues

April 27, 2010 – April 29, 2010
Join us as we provide a refresher on the fiduciary rules under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), including "plan assets" exceptions such as the 25% test and prohibited transaction exemptions such as the "QPAM" exemption, and the new service provider exemption, as well as what it generally means to manage plan assets. In addition, we will address some recent hot topics under ERISA, including new reporting requirements that are causing ERISA investors to turn to managers for compliance help, challenges that the downturn and increases in withdrawal requests pose for complying with the 25% test, issues presented by hard-to-value assets, and effects that managers may feel as a result of recent pay-to-play and gifts and entertainment controversies.
