ACO Governance: Decision-Making and Accountability for ACO functions

December 15, 2010
The second Webinar in this seven-part series on accountable care organizations (ACOs) will address ACO governance as it pertains to decision-making and the assignment of accountability for ACO functions. The presentation will (i) review existing regulatory and industry guidance on ACO structure, leadership and governance concerns, (ii) discuss how governance may vary between integrated and collaborative ACO models, and (iii) examine the intersection between decisions an ACO makes about network development, quality, performance, and contracting, and the decisions about similar matters made by entities such as hospital governing boards, organized medical staffs, physician hospital organizations, and independent practice associations. Finally, the presentation will discuss the potential for conflicts of interest in ACO decision-making as well as the role of the independent trustee in ACO governance.
