Two recently published surveys rank Ropes & Gray’s Intellectual Property practice among the best in the world. Both of the comprehensive surveys, conducted by Managing IP and Asia IP, are based on client feedback and peer recognition.

Managing IP’s 2010 “World IP” survey, published February 1, is its largest to date, covering 75 jurisdictions. Ropes & Gray was identified as a leader in the following categories:

  • Japan—Foreign Firms, Patent
  • U.S.—National Firms, Prosecution
  • U.S.—National Firms, Patent-Contentious
  • U.S.—National Firms, Copyright
  • U.S.—National Firms, Trademark-Contentious
  • U.S.—National Firms, Bio Life Sciences

Managing IP rankings are “part one of the world’s most detailed and authoritative survey of the IP market,” and designed to assess qualitative aspects of a firm’s reputation such as strength of expertise and depth of ability to service clients.

Ropes & Gray’s Tokyo office was also recognized in the “Leading Patent Firms” category of Asia IP’s recent survey, published in January. The monthly magazine has a similar methodology to Managing IP and focuses, as the name suggests, exclusively on the Asian IP market.
