Ropes & Gray litigation partner John Donovan has been elected president of the Boston Bar Foundation (BBF), the charitable affiliate of the Boston Bar Association. Among its many endeavors to serve the Greater Boston area, the foundation awards grants to fund community organizations that provide crucial legal services to tens of thousands of low-income individuals and families.

“I am honored to have been elected to lead this great organization,” said Donovan. “We will continue to work to help provide legal services to the less fortunate, as well as make our judicial system more efficient and accessible to all. I would also like to thank all those who support our organization through their generosity and hard work."

Donovan has been a partner with Ropes & Gray since 1990. He recently helped lead the firm’s team in a U.S. Supreme Court victory for mutual fund advisor, Harris Associates, against shareholder claims of excessive advisory fees (Jones v. Harris Associates). In addition to his work with the BBF, he is also on the board of overseers for Boston College Law School.
