Ropes & Gray Moves Boston Office to Prudential Center

Leading international law firm Ropes & Gray LLP today announced that it has relocated its Boston office to the Prudential Center. The new office, in one of the nation’s premier business locations, accentuates Ropes & Gray's continued growth in its 145-year-old birthplace even as the firm moves ahead with its national and international expansion.

From its Boston roots, Ropes & Gray over the last decade has established a national—and more recently, international—footprint. Its New York office, with more than 300 lawyers, is now one of the largest in the nation’s financial capital. The firm also has recently expanded in Chicago, San Francisco and Silicon Valley, has a strong presence in Washington, D.C., and has announced plans to open an office in Shanghai, following recent openings in London, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

The new Prudential Center location, with more than 400,000 square feet of state-of-the-art office space and a high-tech conference center, enhances Ropes & Gray’s ability to serve its clients. “The open, technology-enabled environment will support collaboration with our clients and colleagues well into the future,” said Mr. Malt.

The new office, designed by Gensler, has modern work spaces and spectacular views of Boston and Cambridge and boosts the firm’s commitment to a supportive workplace environment for its lawyers and staff. In September, for the second year in a row, Ropes & Gray was ranked #1 on the list of “Best Firms to Work For” by the closely watched industry publication The Vault Guide. “Our new office also will enhance our efforts to promote work-life balance and support for working parents,” said Mr. Malt.

Sustainability and environmental awareness were central to the design. Ropes & Gray’s has applied for Silver LEED certification, and the firm has undertaken other environmental initiatives, including significant reduction in the use of paper across its offices.
 
In addition, the firm was pleased to donate furniture from its former Boston office to charitable organizations—including Cradles to Crayons, Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, Action for Boston Community Development and Codman Square Health Center—in an arrangement with The Furniture Trust.
