Ropes & Gray is representing Motorola in three patent infringement lawsuits against Microsoft, filed Wednesday, November 10. In one complaint filed in the Southern District of Florida and two complaints filed in the Western District of Wisconsin, Motorola alleges that Microsoft is infringing 16 Motorola patents with its Windows operating system, e-mail technology and messaging software, Windows Mobile and Xbox. The firm is also defending Motorola in a lawsuit brought by Microsoft on November 9, alleging breach of contract by Motorola in failing or refusing to grant a license to Microsoft under certain Motorola “standards essential” patents on fair and reasonable terms.

The Ropes & Gray team is led by New York-based IP litigation partners Jesse Jenner and Steven Pepe, and California partner Mark Rowland.
