Ropes & Gray Represents TPG in Proposed $850 Million Acquisition of MDA Property Information Business
Corporate partner Amanda Morrison led a Ropes & Gray team in advising TPG Capital on its proposed acquisition of a property information business from British Columbia-based IT company, MDA. The business, which is principally located in the United States and Europe, provides property information to insurance companies, lenders, and legal professionals. The deal was announced on November 5 and is valued at approximately $850 million.
The firm's private equity lawyers have been involved in some of the most significant private equity deals of 2010, including representing a private equity consortium consisting of Berkshire Partners, Bain Capital and Advent International in the $1.1 billion leveraged buyout of SkillSoft; TPG in a co-investment with Goldman Sachs for the €1.2 billion secondary buyout acquisition of Ontex N.V.; and Thomas H. Lee Partners in its $1.1 billion acquisition of inVentiv Health.
