Sarah Davidoff Joins Ropes & Gray as Partner
Addition Bolsters Firm's Top-Tier Hedge Funds Practice
Ropes & Gray announced that Sarah Davidoff has joined the firm as a partner in its internationally recognized hedge fund practice. Ms. Davidoff is resident in Ropes & Gray’s New York office and is the second partner to join the office in two weeks.
Ms. Davidoff is ranked by both Chambers Global and Chambers USA as a leading hedge funds lawyer. Ropes & Gray recently was named to the first tier of hedge and private funds practices by U.S. News, and Ms. Davidoff’s addition solidifies the firm’s position as a go-to firm for funds counseling.
“Sarah is well versed in establishing and operating hedge funds,” said Laurel FitzPatrick, head of Ropes & Gray’ s hedge fund practice. “Her impressive skill set perfectly complements the interests of our globally situated investor clients—be they institutional firms, independent managers, or individuals. We are pleased to have her join our team.”
Previously a partner at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan in New York, and co-chair of its private funds group, Ms. Davidoff regularly counseled clients on the formation, structure, re-organization, and operation of hedge funds and assisted them with structuring compensation and related profit-sharing arrangements. Additionally, she has advised clients on the launch of feeder funds, institutional seed investments, and managed account programs.
Ms. Davidoff also focuses on the ongoing regulatory and compliance matters affecting her clients, guiding them through the more complex regulatory environment for hedge funds ushered in by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010.
Ropes & Gray, a global law firm with more than 1,000 lawyers and professionals dedicated to the highest standards of counsel and service, was among the 10 firms with the most national first-tier rankings in the 2010 U.S. News survey of U.S. law firms and was ranked #1 in The Vault Guide’s 2009 and 2010 lists of “Best Firms to Work For.” The firm’s offices are based in the world’s centers of business, finance, technology and government, including New York, Washington, D.C., Boston, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Chicago, London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.
