Zynga to Acquire Newtoy as Social Gaming Expands to Mobile Devices

Ropes & Gray represented Zynga Game Network Inc. in its acquisition of mobile-game company Newtoy in a deal announced December 2. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Zynga, the San Francisco social gaming company, has more than 215 million monthly users playing games like FarmVille and the recently released CityVille on Facebook, and has been expanding its reach to games for mobile devices.  According to Zynga vice president of mobile games, David Ko, “It is increasingly clear that mobile is the next great frontier for social gaming.”
