In May, articles in The Am Law Daily, The Washington Post and Associated Press, among others, highlighted Ropes & Gray’s representation of pro bono client John Norman Huffington, who was convicted in 1981 for a double murder. As a result of newly discovered DNA evidence that demonstrated that hairs discovered at the crime scene were not Huffington’s, the Circuit Court for Frederick County, Maryland granted Mr. Huffington’s petition for writ of actual innocence, vacated Mr. Huffington’s murder convictions and ordered a new trial. Mr. Huffington is represented by Washington, D.C.-based government enforcement associate Michael Laufert.
