Law360 Highlights Ropes & Gray’s Landmark Victory for SAP in “How They Won It”

Silicon Valley-based IP litigation partner James Batchelder was featured in Law360’s monthly “How They Won It” series for securing a landmark victory on June 11, 2013 for SAP and SAP AG in SAP America Inc. v. Versata Development Group Inc.

This case was the first-ever covered business method (CBM) review trial initiated under the new post-grant patent challenge proceedings created by Leahy-Smith America Invents Act of 2011 (AIA), and the decision is the first final written decision issued by the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office under the new AIA proceedings.
