Attorneys:

Ropes & Gray is pleased to announce that Evan Gourvitz has joined the firm as counsel in the intellectual property litigation practice, enhancing the firm’s ability to protect its clients’ creative and intellectual capital through copyright, trademark, and false advertising litigation, and in domain name and social media disputes.

Mr. Gourvitz joins Ropes & Gray from Diageo North America—the world’s leading premium drinks business—where he served as Director & Senior Counsel for Litigation. Before that, Evan practiced intellectual property litigation at Fross Zelnick Lehrman & Zissu, P.C. He has extensive experience representing clients in trademark, copyright and false advertising litigation matters, and he will join more than 300 legal professionals in Ropes & Gray’s New York office. Mr. Gourvitz’s clients have included premier names in the consumer products, restaurant, entertainment and fashion industries, among others.

“We are delighted that Evan has joined our IP litigation practice. His copyright and trademark litigation experience both in the federal court and before the Trademark Trial & Appeal Board of the United States Patent & Trademark Office will be extremely valuable to clients,” said Peter Brody, a Washington, D.C.-based intellectual property litigation partner who spearheads Ropes & Gray’s non-patent IP practice.

Mr. Gourvitz received his J.D. from New York University School of Law, and his M.A. in Politics from the NYU Graduate School of Arts and Science. He received his B.A. from Rutgers College.
