Health Care Partner Quoted in Modern Healthcare Article Examining Physician-Owned Distributorships

Health care partner Thomas Bulleit (Washington, D.C.) was quoted in a Nov. 26 article in Modern Healthcare concerning the arrest of a Michigan-based doctor accused of healthcare fraud. This case represents the first matter filed by the Justice Department under the False Claims Act and related to physician-owned distributorships (PODs).

Mr. Bulleit says the case will likely, “Bring more scrutiny on the so called POD ownership relationships doctors have,” and demonstrate to patients, “there’s an opportunity to not only go after doctors civilly but also criminally if they are performing medically unnecessary procedures and are POD investors.”
