Commercial Litigation Partner Quoted in Ignites on Eminent Domain Case

Practices: Litigation

A May 20 Ignites article reports that mortgage bond trustees have withdrawn their appeal of a federal court ruling that dismissed their lawsuit seeking to prevent government officials in Richmond, Calif. from seizing mortgage loans by asserting eminent domain. The trustees dropped the appeal after the city failed to take action on its eminent domain plan. Ropes & Gray commercial litigation partner John Ertman (New York), who represents Wells Fargo and Deutsche Bank in the matter, states in the article that the suit will be “immediately refiled” if the government takes further steps to seize the loans.
