A June 3 Managing Intellectual Property article dissecting the Defend Trade Secrets Act (DTSA) includes quotes by and a photo of intellectual property litigation partner Peter Brody (Washington, D.C.) and five key features of the DTSA identified by Ropes & Gray attorneys.

Mr. Brody explains that civil trade secret claims will likely increase as a result of the new DTSA law and that businesses will be more concerned with identifying and protecting their own trade secrets and will have incentive to devote more resources to that objective. He notes that the DTSA is designed to better shield companies against the economic losses suffered from trade secret theft by permitting ex parte seizure of property in order to prevent further dissemination of the trade secret information.
