Women’s Forum Hosts Client Networking Event in Tokyo

Ropes & Gray’s Women’s Forum held a client networking event in Tokyo on Oct. 26 at the Peninsula Tokyo. The guests engaged in dynamic discussion and heard from keynote speaker Shelagh Sayers, the F.B.I. representative to the Japanese government. Special Agent Sayers shared her personal story of joining the F.B.I, where only 20 percent of agents are female. She emphasized the vital role that mentoring has played in helping her to overcome roadblocks and thrive over the course of a 20-year career at the F.B.I.

The event drew attendees from a variety of firm clients and other organizations, including Abe, Ikubo & Katayama Law Firm, Dow Corning Toray Co., Ltd., Fujitsu Ltd., NEC Corporation, Nikon Corporation, Novo Nordisk Pharma Ltd., NTT Communications Corporation, Olympus Corporation, ORIX Corporation, Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Renesas Electronics Corporation and Temple University Beasley School of Law.

The Ropes & Gray Women’s Forum offers educational, professional development and networking opportunities for its female attorneys. The forum sponsors programs that give female lawyers access to firm and industry leaders and other experts, hosting events at which clients and guest speakers are invited to address topics such as networking, marketing, mentoring, leadership training, and professional and business development.
